Which financial risks are connected to internationalisation and aren't they to big for SMEs ?

A statement made by marketing professor Kotler, USA, may be useful for reflection:
'Companies pay too much attention to the cost of doing something. They should worry more about the cost of not doing it.'

Nothing works without risk and the well-known american marketing professor Kotler has formulated it similar to:'Companies should pay more attention to the profits lost by not spending money for marketing activi- ties than to the fact what it costs to do so !'
In other words: The normal (calculated) risk of an entrepreneur can never be excluded.
However, with a thorough market research, combined with the following assessment of the cost and the profit to be expected, this will lead to a good decision.
Furthermore the risk in engaging a free but trained consultant will again be less as his fees do not permanently load the pay roll and the engagement can be finished on relatively short notice - even without taking into consideration his independance from the daily business and thereby faster action.
In addition partly national and international institutions will participate in the cost for this consultancy.
